Historical Make
A traditional buttoned up shirt thought to originate from Henley-on-Thames where rowers were pictured wearing the pullover style out on the water at the end of 19th and start of the 20th century.
The top is likely to have started life as an undergarment, an additional layer to be worn during bouts of cold weather, but now seen an alternative to the polo shirt and even appearing in the last cinematic outing of a certain double O agent.
Modern Take
Our version is made of 180 gsm cotton, a lightweight fabric, chosen specifically for Spring and Summer, whether sitting in a beer garden, going for a country stroll or sunning yourself on holiday.
The three button placket creates a formal feel, though can provide a more casual and relaxed fit by undoing the top button.
The knitted cuff trims adding to the look of the cut and sew shirt, making it stand out above standard crew neck counterparts.
Finished off with a subtle white LIFE SCHOLAR embroidered heart on the left sleeve.
Made in the UK
The main body fabric is natural GOTS certified organic cotton, sewn in Leicestershire.
The custom cotton labels were printed in Derbyshire.
The milk casein buttons were produced in Gloucestershire.
No synthetic materials have been used in this garment, the labels being printed to avoid using polyester thread.
The use of milk casein means this product is not suitable for vegans.
